Ben and I went out to explore behind our apartment. Well, more to the side because right behind our apartment, is another apartment.
We found a perfect spot in the snow for a tree fort. There was a small clearing, a large dead tree out front and an actual doorway consisting of a tree bent in an upside down "U" about six feet high. Ben wasn't as impressed as I was, but he followed me around in my enthusiastic march to pick up big dead branches and build the walls.
A good amount was accomplished, but we had to cut it short cause Ben kept getting snow in his gloves and his hands were getting cold. Leave it to kids to ruin the fun of building a tree fort...

Sounds like a lot of fun. Isn't it great that you get to be a kid again when you become a parent? But I can relate to Ben's cold-finger problems. When we were kids, we used to just have knit sweater-type mittens. They'd get cold and soggy, but we'd try to stay outside until they got just too painful. Sometimes, we'd try to squeeze the excess melted snow out of our mittens, in hopes that we could stay outside just a little longer. And, I also remember that it used to really hurt if you got snow on your wrist. But it was so much fun. Then, when we finally went back inside.....hot chocolate.....and it didn't come out of an envelope!
