Swing song

Music calmed King Saul....why not prince Ben?

We've sung to Ben since before he was born, and he's liked it all, but nothing compares to the very adaptable lyrics and melody I created a couple days ago while swinging at the park with Ben. I've become The Beatles, Dob Dylan and Pearl Jam all wrapped up into one dadda.

Beth has caught on and used my tune and found herself vaulted to the heights of (insert famous female singer/songwriter here...).

The first time I sang it, Ben caught on right away and picked up the meaning of up and down almost instantly. After that, he wanted it sung before bed, while eating, while in the tub, back at the park, on the way to the park....everywhere and all the time!

You obviously can't get the tune from me writing it down, but you can get the cadence and make up your own tune...I believe it's the simplicity, and the fact that he can understand most of the words that I throw in that are the important parts. Here is the original version:

Dadda and momma and ben at the park

dadda and momma and ben until dark

dadda and momma and ben on a swing

going up and down!

Simplicity itself, and Ben absolutely loves it. I'll record it some time so we can look back at the past and remember the song that kept ben both placated and excited for so many months.

Other versus are made up depending on our location and activities, but frequently requested Pronouns/nouns are Nanna, Grammo, Papa, tree (as in you guys are up in one, he usually points to which one each of you are in), swing, bed, couch, cars...etc.

In other news, Beth has been frequently gone on interviews lately, and we should know within a month or two where we will be staying for the next couple years/the rest of our life. We'll keep you posted!

(PS. Win 7 keeps messing with this blogging program making it incredibly hard to do. There's a small chance I may soon punch a hole in the nearest wall. Which is ok, because Ben isn't here right now, and it's bad to keep your anger pent up, right!?)

I'm anxious to hear your tune for the song - mine sounds kind of boring - even to me! Also - you could buy one of those punching clowns :)
