So the day after I wrote the last post, I came downstairs after my shower to find Julia escaping. I quick grabbed the video camera and captured the last few seconds of it. The couple mornings and post-naps she alerted me to her situation by yelling, "Daddy! Help! Daddy where are you!?" Her situation being that she had climbed to the top of her crib and was straddling the siderail. I think she's finally realized that's not a fun thing to do and hasn't done it in a day or two.
The next two parts of the video are part of our daily routine. Julia and Ben like to help with the dishes, so I put them up on the counter so they can help. Julia handles the plastic dishes and bottles and Ben takes care of the ceramics.

Julia also likes to watch slides from our trip to France. She always points to the computer and says, "Ben!" So she climbs up on my lap and we look for pictures of Ben and momma. In this video, both Julia and Ben climbed up. It was near bedtime so things got a bit crazy...

This past week Beth is still compensating for her less than fast resident, so she's still staying till 7:30 or 8 (and probably will be for the next 5 weeks...). I've been trying to replace all of our broken shades on the first floor, on top of doing the regular cleaning stuff and watching the kids. And the kids have been making train tracks.

Which brings us to Julia's newest behavioral step: aggression. She's learned, and I'm not sure where from, that she can push and hit when someone isn't doing what she wants. I'm thinking this is not learned but a natural expression. The people at the gym childcare keep telling me what she's doing and I'm thinking "...and? she's 19 months...we're working on it."

Oh, and she went pee pee on the potty Friday! She woke up dry from her nap so I asked her if she wanted to sit on the potty. Of course she said yes (she loves sitting on the potty and reading the potty story), so I sat her down and by the fourth page of the book she started to tinkle.
The look on a kid's face when they first go to the bathroom on a real potty is priceless. I'm not sure if it's the noise, or the weird feeling of something leaving your body and not being directly absorbed, but it scares the crap outa em!

She got over it pretty quick though and by page 6 she went one more time. Ben and I cheered and gave her high 5's.
