Found a friend!

This is to help Beth get through her very last day (well, full work day) on call. She tells me she will never be on call again, but when pushed she tells me that she might be on call, especially if she is private practice, but it won't be nearly as bad. Let's hope so!

A quick aside about the video: Ben has seen himself in the mirror plenty of times, but this is the first time he's really experimented with it.

This has been such a bad week of call that Beth hasn't been home before Ben's bedtime more than 1 or 2 times this week.

Part of Beth's decision to be a Radiation Oncologist was based on the idea that call would not be an overnight-at-the-hospital thing. So that's good at least. But she does have to stay until they are done treating all the patients, and she gets a lot dumped on her during the day, especially when another (or in this case, many) resident takes a vacation. All the other residents deal with this too, but this just happens to be a week where multiple residents took vacation, so the work load is extra heavy.

Oh, and did you know that many times she doesn't get a lunch? Not just when she's on call, this is all the time! For whatever reason, her attendings just don't schedule it in, instead it's clinic straight through the day with no breaks. This isn't Russia...is it? Seriously, what kind of a job doesn't give their employees lunch breaks?? At least us stay-at-home-dads/teachers get lunch breaks!

What a hilarious video. You captured Ben's moment of discovery perfectly. Seems like it should win some kind of prize. How you kept from bursting out in laughter, Josh, is beyond me. Thanks for sharing this.
