We have a house. That house contains 4 (and a half) main rooms on the first floor. The kitchen/dining room, the living room and the two other rooms. Most people, I think, use one of them as a formal dining room and the other as some sort of sitting/greeting/waiting room type thing. However, most people we know with a formal dining room use it rarely, if ever, and I don't think I've ever heard of anyone using the formal sitting room.

Instead, we have a library and a music room! The library only has one book shelf...it's a work in progress, but the music room is coming along nicely. We have a violin, 2 acoustic guitars, 1 electric guitar, a banjo, 2 recorders, 2 harmonica's, a conga type drum and now, in the past 2 days, we've acquired an electronic drum set and a Baldwin upright piano (the drum set is old, so it was cheap and the piano was from a ballet company that was looking to upgrade, so it's free!)!

I don't know how to play the drums or the piano, but in the past 10 minutes I learned a pretty cool beat on the drums so I have high hopes that I'll pick it up quickly. The piano I'm less confident about. I learned the piano a little as a kid, but it's a very difficult instrument. And I don't like reading music. But I think it will be good for me to practice reading music, and would really like to learn music theory so I can "jam" (join in) with other people and know what I'm doing.

Of course none of this is serious in any way. I like to make music, it's a hobby, so in that way it's fun to have all the instruments. But, it's also nice to have them all so that when the kids get bigger, they can experiment with all of them and see if they would like to work on any of them.

The rest of these pictures are left over from Christmas. We had a huge monster storm just before Christmas, which everyone with a job hated, but Beth had taken vacation and the rest of us non-working folks, well we don't mind at all.
Spent time with my parents and Beth's parents and then had nearly all the relatives on my side of the family come up for new years (ish), which was fun.

And now...the house is clean, Julia is sleeping, Beth is sleeping, Ben is playing leggos....time to play that funky music white boy!

Love your comments Josh and the pictures that I am seeing for the first time. The one with Julia with her hat on, one mitten and one boot looks just like the picture that I took when I babysat. Is it? If not, look at the pics on the camera and you'll see a picture very much like the one you posted. Funny little girl! Love you Julia...love you Ben! Nana
