No Day

Today started at around 2 in the morning. Ben woke up, for whatever reason, and cried. A lot. We’re being firm about not going in there because any less sleep and we might literally go crazy.

That went on for about thirty minutes or so. Maybe an hour, it’s tough to say. He was fine by the way, just overtired and maybe a little warm, though that’s not certain. After which, Beth was wide awake and a little sick. By the time she was ready to try sleep, the upstairs neighbors were in a vengeful mood and decided to blast Arabian piano versions of Radiohead songs. They stopped around 4am.

Just as my anger subsided and began to be replaced with sleep, the garbage guy comes and starts banging around the garbage cans.

I think we fell asleep about an hour after that (I’m writing this Sunday so I’m not completely sure…), but Ben woke up for the day around 6:30, so I got up and played with him so Beth could sleep a little.

Beth got up around 8 and ate, but she was really sick, and exhausted, so Ben and I went to the park for a couple hours while she napped.

It was snowing in sheets and there was even a little accumulation at the park, so Ben and I made a snowman ("No man" as Ben says it) and snow angels. A six foot snow angel next to a 3 foot one, pretty cute. Then we became cars and we raced around the park for a while.

We got home and of course Ben wouldn’t nap. Mama’s home! Why would he?

It made for a lovely evening.

Beth felt slightly ill the rest of the day, but not as bad as the morning. Before bed, Beth and I watched the Dana Carvey HBO stand up “Squatting Monkeys Tell No Lies” in 6 parts on youtube. There were a couple slow points, but for the most part I was laughing with tears coming down my face the whole time. There’s some swearing and irreverence, but you can fast forward if those parts bother you. I highly recommend it. Here’s part one (when you finish, select part 2 on the lower right, then 3 and so on.
