Before we went out to dinner last night, Ben was in a deep, deep sleep. It had been around 3 1/2 hours, and we were afraid that A. We might not get out to dinner and B. He wouldn't sleep that night. We ended up de-blanketing him to help speed the process, but in the meantime, I got some good video of him dreaming. Unfortunately, I missed him laughing. It's more like a loud peep, but he does it while smiling. It's pretty cute.
Another deep sleeper is Beth. Over the course of Ben's 4 weeks she's been pretty exhausted...he eats a lot and quite often, even at night. One time I brought Ben to her after he'd been changed so that she could nurse him.
"Beth? Time for Ben to eat."
"Ok, do you want me to feed him or the baby?"
At this point I grew concerned.
"Beth? It's time to feed Ben..."
"Ok, should I feed him or the baby?"
"Sweetie, you're scaring me. Feed who or the baby?"
A look of confusion crosses her still sleepy face.
"Beth, you go back to sleep, I'm gonna go give him a bottle."
It turns out she was dreaming (and she has quite vivid dreams) that babies came with wrappers, and you had to feed the wrapper as well as the baby.
Another time I came in with Ben crying only to find Beth searching frantically through the bed sheets. She thought that Ben was in the bed and was desperate to find him.
More recently I brought in Ben and told her that it was time to feed him. She replied that she already was. I informed her that this was not the case, at which point she checked the spot where Ben was in her mind, and found that I was, after all, correct.
The last 2 nights have been pretty decent though. We had one stretch each night of 3 1/2 to 4 hours, so hopefully we can yank ourselves up one step closer to the top of the cliffs of insanity.

What a sweetie! He is SO cute! I laughed the whole time that I was watching this. He must be having dreams like his mama :)
