Fun with Freddy

Another rainy day.

Beth had off today due to some sort of French holiday, but of course, she had to work. So Ben and I played trains and cars most of the day, with Beth taking a break and playing with Ben every couple of hours.

After Ben's nap, I took him to the escalator/moving walkway area that leads to the RER metro system that we don't use. We've been there before, and it's a fun, nearly peopleless area that we can run in.

The moving walkways are about 50 yards long and there's a good 40 to 50 yards of space in between the escalators and the walkway on both sides (so about 100 total), and Ben and I ran it, back and forth, for about 45 minutes. We rode the escalators, 2 of which are really big, so that took some time off of the running. And the moving walkways make the 50 yards more like 25. But still. Ben did a great job and probably ran at least 2 or 3 football field lengths in that time period.

We had just watched a Little People (or something) video that came with his farm and in it there was a frog named Freddy. So when we started to run and I said, c'mon Ben!, he told me he was Freddy. So I kept saying, lookit that Freddy the Frog Fly! And other such alliterations, and he was crackin up as we ran. So that was fun.

He said he wasn't tired, but when he stopped running, I made the decision to cut and run before the magic slipper popped off and he turned back into a 2 year old.

Probably not much to talk about the next couple days either, but Sunday we leave for Leuven, Belgium. So at least you'll have something new to read about then!

Beth is working on her book? Very smart of you to run the pants off Ben and yourself - good job. I've heard that Belgium is a wonderful place to visit - enjoy! (did you want to choose a Christmas present for me from Belgium? :)
