Not for Work!

Rubber hats do not suit us. I look like I've been scalped and Ben looks like he's got an afro. We'll try to get a better picture of Ben later so you can see him standing in his suit and hat.

No vacation, so I figured we'd attempt the pool of doom yet again.

It did not disappoint.

We took the train there and got off on the easy stop...

Quick story: So we get off the train and I'm holding Ben; I look at the map on the wall and notice a homeless guy laying on the bench, but focus on the map. All of a sudden I hear the sound of tinkling. I look over and see a stream of urine coming out onto the back of the bench. Luckily that's all we could see. I did my best to turn Ben towards the map, but he's quite good at focusing as well. I then decided we probably knew where we were going and headed out.

...and took the easiest way up. I knew we wouldn't be quite as close, but I figured we'd be able to find our way pretty easily above ground. On the way we saw the dudes pictured french braiding each others hair. I stopped and took a picture for posterity.

Four "Ou est Les Hall?"'s later we made it! It only took fifty minutes...

We were a little early because I wasn't sure what time the pool opened, 11:30 by the way, and since we were there at 10:50 and Ben was a little hungry I got him a waffle with sugar bits in it. He enjoyed it.

Then the jumping in and swimming commenced.

Getting home was a treat. Yet again. This time I took a more scenic route and went out the back. I was hoping a metro stop was close. It may have been, but I sure didn't know it if it was. We ended up just walking all the way back to the metro at the Louvre, probably about half a mile, so not too bad.

After nap we went to the park and played on the anthill. Ben's getting used to moving through a knot of other children at least; I guess that's social progress right?

Beth was home when we got home from the grocery store, so we headed to the pizza joint across the street.

It was pretty tasty all around. We got 1 pizza with chicken, mushrooms, red onion and something else on it. And another with 4 cheeses included Camembert and goat. Luckily the goat cheese was in a clump in the middle of the pizza, so I promptly removed it.

Am I the only one that noticed the scantily clad men in the background of your photo?

That's not scantily clad. Those are men fully dressed in appropriate european swim attire...

Speaking of random dudes, but switching pics, do they just call it "braiding" in france?

Dunno. Been trying to tell if they just call it "toast" as well. So far I'm not getting any answers. But then again, I don't speak French.
