Sick day

Was up to midnight or so last night *cough* playing corre*cough*spondence chess and, *cough* *cough* as you can see from the last p*cough* p*cough* post, reading some very odd *cough*blogs. Oh, and I was coughing too. If you didn't get that.

Luckily, that doesn't stop my inner clock from working, so I was up nice and early so I could lay there and think about how I wished I was asleep.

Ben was very cute this morning as he tried to figure out what not feeling well means. He kept asking, "Are you happy?" I said, yes, but I'm sick, I have a cold. So he said, "If you hug Nemo puppy he'll make you better! There. Are you happy?"

I once again explained the difference, so he got all the animals and we had a party on the bed. Which is actually doctor recommended. If you're the one doctor that differed from the other nine who prescribed cold medicine that is.

At breakfast my cough settled down a bit and Ben told me I was all better because I wasn't coughing. He was very insistent.

Then we went to the drug store and I got some cough and cold medicine. I didn't take any right away because the fresh, smokey, garbage filled , air seemed to be keeping my symptoms at bay.

We headed to the toy store to find a more educational toy I could throw in the mix. We found some magnet letters and numbers that were cheap and got a chance to look some more at the Brio trains. The big cool set is $280, but that's a lot cheaper than buying in the US it turns out. In fact, unless you get lucky on Amazon, you can't even get Brio in the US. However, you can get Thomas the train and other types of Vario-System (it's the type of track Brio uses, same track depth and jigsaw style connecting) train sets through the mail, and sometimes a lot cheaper, so we'll have to look into that more.

When we got home Ben ate. And ate. And ate. Then I ate. And Ben ate some of my food (the stuff I didn't slobber on). Lately, he's been eating from 10am to noon, straight, and then not eating much for breakfast or dinner. It's odd, but not out of the ordinary apparently.

During lunch I started coughing again, so I took the medicine and it worked! For half an hour.

Now he's *cough* napping and I*cough*'m back at it. Beth should be home soon though, so that's good!

I feel so badly for you Josh- it's a miserable experience having a cold; add to it, an adorable 2 yr old who doesn't understand, lack of sleep, not your own bed and not your own country. I hope that you are back to happy soon. xxx Mom/nana
